Thanks Swallow.

What is also interesting to see is that there are quite a few colours which weren't standard colours (white, gold, purple), and a few two-tone paint jobs.

think two-tone is coloured roof?

also, my B is Aqua Blue but on the v5 is just listed as Blue. Phillistines.

Am I right in thinking that Aqua is one of the rarer factory colours?

Yes. blue should be broken down to the different shades not just blue. This is interesting. I thought there would be slightly less to be honest. I wonder how many get broken down for spares every year.

Anyone else on here got an aqua blue?

I was thinking of changing colour as mine is being resprayed but have gone with the original colour - for the sake of originality. Plus after a decade, I've become quite attached to the colour - looks nice in the sunshine

Isn't the 'purple' one actually aubergine, or is that what the dvla is listing as black. Mine is midnight blue, but as well as the lighter Aqua blue I have seen a few in a darker blue (almost with a hint of grey in it) on late cars... anyone know what name that goes by?
and MattB2K... are you friends with LittleRedB per chance... you are both harping on about flat red being the best colour... hmmmmm, the jury is out on that one for sure :D

Two-tone could well refer to coloured roofs - I hadn't thought of that. Although it seems to be an exception rather than the rule to list a different coloured roof in the V5 - for example, I would imagine that the majority of Bs have black roofs, but aren't listed as (whatever colour)/black. Mine is just listed as black on the V5, despite having a burgundy coloured roof.
Maybe it is down to the individual case officer at the DVLA who issues the V5 when the vehicle is first registered in the UK...? Just a thought.

Is Aqua blue the same as Sea blue (no. 494)?

Aubergine?! Silk black, if you don't mind! :) It's listed as black on my V5.

PS: Slightly off topic, but I've always wondered what colour would be listed in the V5 for this car: :)

It wasn't till I got my B re-sprayed that I found out it was painted in 3 shades of blue. Body was Midnight Blue, Hard top was darker (jag blue?) and the bonnet was different again..maybe replaced sometime.

Me to Spec-Savers...I never noticed the bonnet colour being different.

To add to the colours above. DVLA are never really bothered. When you import a car they ask you "What is the colour" some people say, well a bluey Gold colour" Green and Brown" So the DVLA write this down

Green \ Brown

Or "Well it's green with a blue hood" DLVA = Green & Blue

It's not two tone colours but the way the DVLA translates what your saying to them. Some DVLA people actuallty ask for the body colour, or what the majority colour is. Then this is what the V5 gets produced with.

So what we should do is add the stock colours together and that should give a better reflection of how many there are of which colour.

Green is the best!!!!!! well, Gold and Green!!!! LOL (y)

So I think these are the true numbers \ colours

Silver 407

Red 195

Black 102

Blue 267

Yellow 139

Green 79

Orange 43

None original colours

Purple 3

White 1

Gold 1

Grand Total 1237
