Technical Uno turbo mk2 CATYLYTIC CONVERTOR

Because last year when I done the mot the man said that the immissions where too high because it dosnt have a catylitic convertor so I am thinking of putting one . I asked ths question because a friend of mine said that you cant put a catylitic convertor because the lambder sensor had to connect to the ecu . but if you say it can I will try . thanks.

This sound odd. An ECU with a connector to a Lambda sensor that isn´t mounted ?
What Version and engine do you have?
After all it´s not hard to swap a modern ECU with loom into your UNO.

Well, then someone must have removed the catalytic converter.
I advice you to get a metal based one in order to keep the
gas-flow resistance low. Ceramic ones have a much higher resistance.

Well I don´t know about your car.
Here ( in Germany) all models have a catalytic converter starting in the 80´s .
And that always goes with an corresponding ECU as that needs data from the lamda sensor to mix a proper fuel mixture. An ECU without a lamda sensor will go into an emergency mode and set the fuel mixture to an average level. This will surely not be done on a regular base by an automobile producer.
