I have a Uno Turbo Mk1 engine and I'm looking at Megasquirt for fuel and ignition control. I don't know at this point if I also need to control boost or not. I plan on running it at .9 bar.

I think I want to go with the V3 board due to better noise immunity and short protection. I also think I want to use MS2 for the higher resolution tables. I'm not sure if these are good choices or not for this setup, as I've read that MS1 supports things that MS2 doesn't and visa-versa. It's still a bit overwhelming.

As I'm missing the harness for the Marelli ignition module, I need advice on the best alternative too. I've read a lot of trouble getting Ford EDIS to work, including some very MS-smart people just giving up on it. I may or may not use the flywheel trigger, it depends if I need it or not for the suggested ignition. If so, I'll have to adapt it to the X1/9 transmission case.

Are the injectors low or high impedance?

Are there existing maps out there to start with?

Looking for any and all advice!

:)

That's helpful... ;)

Anyway, i am soon to be fitting Omex to my Mk1 i am doing the following:

Taking all the old crap out lol..

Fitting the trigger wheel and sensor of a Punto/Tempra 1.6.

Fitting the coil pack from the above.

This is by far the best idea as all the parts fit the coil pack fits where the dizzy on our Mk1's are. The bottom wheel fits onto the crank ok also.

This eliminates the 2 tricky problems, coil packs and triggerwheels.

I am using a RS turbo throttle body so i will fit my temp sensor into this (Ford Cosworth air temp sensor)

Hope this helps. :)

I agree, that WAS a bad idea!

2) Bacon tastes better than coal.

Unless you're a coal-eating microbe I guess

3) Five is less than six.

For all numbers >= 0

4) Don't panic. Ever.

Unless you forgot your towel.

What is Omex, is that an ignition module? Is that controllable with Megasquirt? [I found a link to it, too expensive for this point in the project!]

Are the trigger wheel, coil pack, and other associated parts easily available? Do you know a ballpark cost for all required parts out of the junkyard/breaker?

I'm in the USA, we never got the Punto/Tempra here.

MICROPLEX: would the original Microplex ignition work with Megasquirt? I have the box and flywheel/crank pully VR sensors but lack the wiring harness and coil. It might be worthwhile buying the ignition wiring harness if it would work.

The Microplex is a good simple stand alone ignition system. If you only need a harness and coil for it to work, I would get these parts.

The injectors are high impedance. If you plan to use a MS I would use larger injectors right from the start as the OE items are very small. They will however be adequate if you retain the factory turbo at 0.9 bar.

That was just too good!!:D

But I know nothing about Megasquirt. All I know is that guys on the C900 forum of SaabCentral have written lots about Megasquirting C900's. It seems there are some very clued up people on there.
