Hi there peeps, lets start off by saying i just cant win with this uno 1100 (CARB). First the petrol pump gives in and i replace it. the car was driving smoothly for 4 months and all off a sudden since last week the car has been switching off as i come to a stop, it starts up first time and i drive, but the moment it stops it switches off. I suspect the ignition module but if it is, it would be the 5 time im replacing it in 2 years.this is crazy.:( Please help
any suggestions?

What is the type of the carb?
My first suspect is bad contact/disconnected cut-off solenoid on the carb.

Weber, Solex?
Is it 1116 ccm or 1108 ccm Fire engine?

I'm not familiar with the 1108cc FIRE in this case, because I don't know if it has a fuel-cutoff for that application? The ones I've seen don't. But if you are in some distant part of the world (South Africa?) they may be different.

If it does have a fuel cutoff facility, you will see a wire attached to the idle speed screw (serves as a switch to detect when throttle is closed). You may like to try disconnecting this wire to disable the cut-off temporarily, as it sounds as though perhaps the cut-off control unit gets the signal to cut the fuel, does so, but then does not re-instate the fuel as the engine RPM drops to near idle.

If it doesn't have a cut-off facility, then the cause must be something more 'classical' - blocked idle jet in the carburettor? Idle speed simply too low? Does the choke have any effect?

Sorry I'm not very specific...
