You thinking of converting your Uno to a CVT :D

hang on that's the 1116 it was an 1108 gearbox you were after - But odd to see an Uno in the scrapyard

It's been out of tax since Dec 2009 so could have been in the yard up to a year now

Ha! no, I`m not that desperate!

Mechanically this ones useless to me, I just got the rear 1/4 trim (so I can put 6x9`s in mine) & the windscreen.

Got a door for my Panda (unfortunately not the side I really need!), the screen from that & roof bars, & I got a new door for my Tempra from the Tipo there.

This looked like it had been nicked & crashed lightly, so it might be ok mechanically, although the oil caps off & the bonnets open....

I`ve got a shelf with 6x9`s in, & a plain one in my grey uno, but most of the time I have no back seat or shelf in it, so I wanted to stelth mount them in the rear 1/4`s.

All the mods I do to my grey one are reversible back to standard, so I had to get a second pair of rear 1/4 panels for the speakers!

You going again soon?

If so, can you grab me the inside window seals please (between the door and the window)? EDIT - bugger, just realised it's a 5 door and so the seals are different sizes :(

Other than that, there's always a few bits worth having:

Also, due to the horribly over-exposed picture ( :p ) I can't tell if the car has indicators - in one picture they appear to have been removed, however after playing with the brightness/contrast levels a bit, they might be there - if clear, they are worth grabbing :)

Rear light clusters too.

Front and rear subframes (as long as they aren't rusted)

Ignition barrel

Radiator

Gearbox - 4speed? 5 Speed?

Water pump (though new ones are availbe for ~£20, it's always useful to have one on hand)

Driveshafts

Suspension arms (whilst you are taking off the drivearms) - new ones are easily available however, but again, useful to have to hand.

I always ask at my local salvage yard for Uno bits - they once tried to sell me a head for a Punto for £100, when I thought my head might have been frost damaged.
I laughed.
Hard.

:)

I can see the Ignition barrel plug hanging in the last pic ;)

I think the CVT box is 1 speed - or is it infinite (Uno Selecta is automatic)

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuously_variable_transmission"]Continuously variable transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:pivgetriebe.png" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f0/Pivgetriebe.png"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/f/f0/Pivgetriebe.png[/ame] it's infinite. (y) it runs on 2 rubber bands…

Why would you want an 1116cc water pump  it's nothing like the fire engine's and I don't think there are probably more spare parts that running engines out there

I know, I`m gutted about that pic, I took over 200 when I was there & typically, the Uno one was the only one that came out over exposed...

I am going again soon, as Louie pointed out, its an auto & the ignition barrels been mullered.

As its an auto 1116cc one, nothing mechanical will be of any use to you, the rad might be different as well?

Pretty sure the driveshafts will be different...

I`ll get the lights for you.

It is a 3-door, I`ll check the seals when I go back for you, I wouldnt recomend using 2nd hand wishbones though, new ones are still avaliable anywhere & are cheap.

Not sure what you mean by subframes though mate?

I didn't say I need those, just gave a list of things I think would be worth having for yourself.

Then again.. I'm a cheap git and would try to salvage everything (just ask Chas! :D )

Ohhh right! trust me, I`m just as tight, but stuff like wishbones, brakes, rads, water pumps etc I always buy new, I do recycle whenever I can though.

For example, the computer chair I`m sitting in right now is made up of a Vauxhall Senator seat base, an Uno SX back rest & a Tempra SX headrest!

When I re-did my Panda`s seats recently, I used other Uno SX seat parts inside to make it more comfortable too :D

I`ll pick up anything you want off of it & drop it at your Dads! (y)

Cheers Alex! Waste not want not eh!

I forgot to mention, I`m retrimming the top of My Panda`s ripped back seat with the leathercloth from the pacel shelf of a Jag XJ I had laying around too.

When I say `I`m` I mean I cut the leather off the shelf, stipped the cloth off the Panda seat & asked my Mum to sew them together..

HI buddy,

Where is this scrap yard, do you have a phone number for them?

Cheers

Hello fellow members and uno owners :) First post!

I ve been googling on the subject of automatic transmission on an Uno, and i just stumbled onto this thread.

I have a Fiat uno-55, with a 1116cc engine on it, if i'm right. It s currently being used by a family member of mine who can no longer use the gearknob, so i thought it would be an ...exciting project to try and get it converted to automatic.

From what i've read though, the uno CVT transmission is not only quite rare, but also notoriously unreliable :p. Still, i love the idea, and i'd like to read your opinions.

Do you think a conversion to the selecta gearbox is possible, and if so, does anyone know a part number to use as a reference? Also, i'd like that scrapyard's information too if possible.

Thanks!

Continuing my weird thought, i m wondering something. From what i see, the Selecta version has been made with three engines (1116cc, 1372cc and 1498cc). Are all three using the same gearbox, or are they different ones? :chin:

I'm not sure what gearbox that car would have.

My wife drove a Mk1 for a few years (1116cc) and we still have it in dry storage. It has the early Van Doorne gearbox and was reliable if not a bit slow and basic, at least no electronics. I'm not aware of any common problems. Must get it out on the road again.

A later transmission was fitted to the Mk1 Punto and Panda. We had the Punto, lovely auto box but with a terrible reputation. Have a look on ebay, many for sale with transmission problems.

We loved the car but sold it after a few intermittent problems with loss of drive and because of the reputation. My advice would be to avoid the later transmission.

What about a Peugeot 205 auto? The box is normally very reliable, plenty of rustfree ones for sale. Watch out for carb problems. I have a rare 1.9 GTI Auto for summer fun, great cars.
