hi i'm new to the forum

iv had an 1993 uno ie start black 3 door

it has the 45 fire engine in it its the 999cc

it has electronic ignition and SPI

i'm gettin it back on the road so i hav done all the mot work an some slight mods

i hav chanhged the head gasket cam belt an tensioner bearing
ht leads rotor arm dissy cap spark plugs ignition coil lambda probe new front disc's an pads new master cylinder new rear brake pipe an wheel cylinders lowering springs alloy wheels remote central locking delocked doors debadged an a meshed front grill blue tinted headlight bulbs clear indicators focus clear style side repeaters colour coded wing mirrors

but it wont run properly

and it willl take a about 2mins to start with the motor spinnin an fully open throttle then it will slowly tickover then start revving up then u can hold the revs high ish about 4k then it will slow down an die again

the fuel is gettin through an the spark is good the cam belt has been timed properly checked everything loads of times

and still can't get it running properly

anyone hav any ideas

its only got 70k on the clock an its ready for the mot just won't run properly

if anyone has any ideas

it also has 2 10 inch subs an 2 alpine amps rear infinity 13cm speakers and front kenwood speakers also a pair of 1000watt tweeters and a pioneer headunit orginally bought for 250

i would b willing to sell the car as is for 400

or 275 without the sound system

not tax or mot but once the running probem is solved it will go straight through the mot hav loads of recipts an history and the mot failure sheet so u can see whats been done

the car is located in lowestoft

i for got to say its got the usual dings an scratches for a car of its age

it does come with oil,an a oil filter that i bought to do an oil change but haven't had it running long enough to warm up to do it properly

it comes with a few spares an some new parts i bought for another uno i used to hav but never fitted

the tyres r all legal the back ones only hav about 3mm tread tho but they r only 13inch alloys so from a local place i can get 2 part worns for 25 fitted

its been lowered 35mm

any questions just ask

if i can get ir running i will keep it cos i reallyneed a car on the road asap

so its either fix or sell asap

Sounds like a fuel pump/fuel filter problem to me. I think you should take the fuel pickup out of the tank and see if it needs cleaning - if so, replace the filter and strip the pump too (or replace it with a spare). In other words, start at the source - see if you can find what's gunked up the pump and filter first?

petrol is gettin through to the spi unit
 
could it b the ignition module r the idle control valve/the stepper valve on the side of the SPI unit
 
i can now get i running but it takes a while to start an then once i letit idle the revs climb slowly i think this is a prblem with the idle control valve would i b right in sayin that?

it takes aes to start seems liketh idle control vavle isn't cuttin in properly then when it does start the idle control valve cuts in a holds the throttle open ever so slightly so the revs slowlyclimb

say i change this part an set it up

and it still wont run properly what else could it b

iv changed all the igniion parts head gasklet cam belt etc etc

hecked verything iv changed loads of times

i'm goin to change the idle control valve then go fromm thre if that works ten its all good with b mot'd as an when

but if it doesn't what else could it b
