I am at the end of my rope.
My Uno Pacer's cambelt went about a month ago and all 8 valves/pistons had to be fixed. Since then she has had very erratic idling and its almost as if she's misfiring.
My brother (amateur mechanic) suggested I try the vacuum gage and to fiddle with idling. Idling is now down to 1.10, but for the life of me I couldn't get the vacuum setting any higher than 16! And she is pinging her heart out!
My brother tested the distributer/coil/spark plugs and couldn't find anything there.
Today I emptied a bottle of Carbcleaner in the carb, to no avail; absolutely NO change.
Any advice?
I'm in Centurion are if there's somebody who could possibly help me...

do you have standard HT leads? these could be at fault if they are old.

could be a sticking valve if you have just had the head redone.

i have no idea how you are supposed to test for this, but its something you could work with...

Hi there

You did the repair yourself or had it done by a workshop? I have replaced the cambelt myself a little while ago and touch wood, the tensioner still keeps the belt in place. Belt slipped off on my previous SX - valves an oll bent; Nissan whacked me with a repair bill of over R7000.00 six weeks later... 6 years ago.

Where can I nowaday get the tensioner/belt checked out for proper secure setting as per Haynes?
