hi i am after a bit of advise. my mk2 uno turbo struggles to start when cold and ticks over really low, if u rev it she stalls, then once the car is warm it revs up to 2000 rpm on its own and goes back to 1000rpm and keeps revving up like that constantly. any help would be appriciated. Gary

Sounds like the coolant temp sensor found on the thermostat costs about £10+ iirc to replace it.
Check all vacuume pipes for leaks or splits too.

I agree with Frosty because it sounds like the cold start valve is being called in to play when the engine is warmed up causing the high-speed idle. It could just as well be loose connections to the temp sensor or the cold start valve, so clean those plugs carefully first before replacing parts. The cold start valve is attached to the front of the cylinder head near the gearbox, and has two 'heater-hose'-sized air pipes going to it. Has a three-pin plug.

Vacuum tubing is cheap (it's sold as 'washer tubing'), so it pays to replace the small pipe to the wastegate actuator and the small pipe to the ignition ECU (mounted on the firewall). Or at least, check them for perishing/split ends.
