Hi,
I've just replaced the head gasket on my 1106cc Uno (FIRE engine). Everything is fine except there is no oil feed to the camshaft! I've disconnected the feed pipe that goes into the head and even run the motor very briefly but no oil comes out. I'm sure the head gasket only goes on one way round but something is blocking the feed of oil. I've even put a thin wire rod down the hole but it stop s dead when it reaches the block.
My question is, does this oil passageway go straight down into the block or does it turn inside the head somewhere before going to meet the corresponding hole in the block?
I fear I'm going to have to remove the damn head again and see what's going on...:(

Hey unomia hoezit? i live in oudtshoorn about 400-500km from you..have you ask for a 1100 gasket? some idiots don't understand...i always ask for 1100 fiat uno fire (i know the engines are the same) i can look in my service manual if the oilpipe go's strate down...but i don't think the pipe is turning, maybe i'm wrong...but i will look and know you right away..cheers maat

Hi Guys,

Yeah that's what I did! I put the damn gasket on the wrong way round and blocked the oil feed to the cam! Fortunatly not much damage was done to the cam or the bearings, I had to take the head off again, fit a another new head gasket (the right way round this time) and check the cam and bearings. That's what happens when you do things in a hurry!
Thanks for your replies.
