Technical Unlocking Automatically

Need some help please on my new 2nd hand buy of my Fiat 500X 1.4 automatic Multi air Pop star reg-2016 Keyless entry/start?

Every time i lock the car it locks fine but after few ours the car doors are unlocked automatically. i monitored this in the weekend and realised it doesn't have any timescale..so if i have locked the car now and kept the keys at quite a distance and go check after 1 hour without my keys with me car is locked but check after 2 hrs it is opened even though i have not touched the keys at all.

Car battery has been changed 2 weeks back, will it be something to do with that?

As i only have a one key fob given when i bought the car and other key is a mechanical key but not with the fob, so was wondering if the 2nd key fob might be left in the car by the previous owner which is causing this unlocking issue so checked the whole car but couldn't find anything.

so last night i locked the car and this morning i checked and the car doors were unlocked on its own. Very much confused and worried as heard lot of incidents about key less cars.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Have you tried locking and unlocking the car with the key manually a few times to reset the system ...I had a hire car that got confused and would lock and un lock randomly so I stopped using remote locking and it was sorted ...worth a try ...

Have not knowingly had this "self unlocking" on my 500X 2015 but be it due to senile memory loss etc. I often check the car is locked as I pass by it without a keyless entry key.

Keyless entry and exit locking is a challenge because "it is different" and people's habits, procedures, etc. can be readily upset when using cars with and without keyless tech.

When there is a fault on a central locking system (of key or keyless) then it is normal for the system to unlock. If you unlocking is happening some time after the initial locking process then could it be a moisture/temperature related issue where water has got into the system. This could be via an insulation fractured cable or ......

Suggestion.

Next time you lock the car set the Dead Locks. Does this self unlock at a later time/date?

You press the key fob lock button twice in quick succession.

You should the the doors go "klunk" "klunk". i.e. double the normal central locking "klunk". The second klunk is the deadlock mechanism engaging.

Last night i was trying to lock the car via key fob remotely i could see straight away when checking the back doors it was opening straight away and not locking. Then i opened and closed all the doors and boot door again and then tried locking it again the car got locked...when checked this morning the car was fortunately locked.

So not sure if it is just a case of one of the door/boot door was not closed properly.

but when monitoring in the weekend the doors were locked for an hour or two and then suddenly unlocked. so it is confusing. i will keep monitoring this for few days. Lets see how it goes.

I've not personally experienced this. When locking when a door or lock mechanism is not correctly latched of functioning properly then the system will just unlock while you are there.

Now this begs the question that can the deadlocks be undone by inducing a door fault by leverage on/around the latch area or by cutting a sense cable?

Seems like one of the door wasn't locked properly hence the car was unlocking itself. last 2 days seems to be working fine. Not unlocking, just making sure the door is closed properly. but will surely keep an eye on it after locking. i do check the doors every now and then for a piece of mind and it has been locked for last two days.

i will update here if there is the issue still exist. Finger Cross and all that.

I think you can disable it on the stereo controls, just to be safe until you figure it out. If anyone near you has MultiECUScan it may show up as an error in diagnostics.

The car has a receiver, not sure where it’s located but have seen them for sale on eBay. Could be faulty.
