Hi there guys,
have been meaning to fit some blue underdash neons. Now believe it or not the wiring is not the problem but the mounting place. This problem is in the drivers side not the passenger because I dont have where to mount it. There is a plastic which keeps all wires hidden and I can only mount to this plastic. Problem is...that when I mount to this plastic, you can easily see the neon byu simply looking down. I want the neon tube to be hidden...as I only want the light of the tube to be seen. Any ideas how I can fix this prob??
Thanks in advance guys!

Problem is that I dont have anywhere to put LED's on the other side!Anyone have photos of installs they have done maybe I can get some ideas?? I will be using Computer neons the ones they use to mod cases, since they are a lot cheaper here in malta ( less than 1/2 price).

I'd rather use Cathode tubes than LED's. Not too fond of them since they are directional and dont spread light properly. Regarding building a shield, its not something I would like to do!!

Any other ideas pls?

hey man,

this is wat i did, i bought a flourescent light tube (green) and i screwed it against the carpet behind my headunit. advantage is that it is easy to remove/install, and the wiring can be fed behind the carpet with little effort. the disadvantage is that the light is brighter on the passenger side than on the drivers, i do have light on the drivers side however.
what i did was screw the light-tube as close to the drivers side as i could. this creates a nice wide light flow across the floor of ur car.

Give this a try and let me know if it works 4 u.

What you could also try, is if u have spots on ur light to place double-sided tape, would be to stick it diagonally, for example: one end is stuck to the plastic on the drivers side, as far back as u can make, then the other is stuck towards the headunit, or even to the front of the car... im thinking of ideas for you out the top of my head, but i will try to fit it using the driver side plastic shield tonite, and give u a heads up tommorrow. If you got any pics please do post them or send them on [email protected]

i fitted a passenger side 12" UV blacklight its holding on with a mix of velcro and tape just to be safe... it looks amazing at night when someone with white shoes steps in (y)

now i need to buy one for the drivers side, i had a look an theres a lip that it can be hid behind on my ie start.

Cheers,
Ryan Edge

Hey Ryan Edge.

You idea sounds bloody awesome dude, I have a green tube and am thinking of getting other colors to place under the front seats towards the front (to avoid people kicking the tubes in when the get into the car). I think I mite just use your UV idea .. LOL .. hmmm ... Depends on the price o'corse.

Try and upload sum pics if possible, would like to see sum results. (y)

I was gonna do my guages with UV( i have white guages) and I was gonna use UV LEDS. Found on the internet that UV is harmful for the eyes so be careful!!!

I took a look at that link and saw some bits and pieces that I would like, does anyone know how to convert the prices as the company are based in south africa

For under-dash i had a 12" Neon tube with a built in inverter, used cable ties to tie it in just under the dash to surrounding wires, etc..

Wasn't ever completely secure but never fell out and worked well.

Also had a neon under the front bumper at one point. ;)

i got underdash neons and it was a tad difficult to attach them. on the passenger side i attached the tube with velcro + superglue to (what i think is) the fusebox hehe.. and it stays ok. The driver's side was a bit easier, i slipped it behind the dashboard's plastic and fixed it with velcro + superglue.

The boxes with circuitry that come with them i hid near my head unit, there was space so i fit them in from behind! all wires i tied to the rest of the stereo and hid them as well as possible. Still got to wire up the switches to the dashboard cos they're hanging at the bottom of the headunit atm.

Drinu we gotta meet up since we're the only 2 persons modding Uno's on this island :p drop me a mail/MSN dbailey_17 {at} yahoo.com
