Anyone who was at Brooklands may have seen the Panda Pickup... and very good it was too! I was talking to the owner whilst we were waiting to go in... He had, what he called a "belly pan". Sheet of mettla attached to the front bumber that ran down and under the sumb to where the bulk head was. I said its good for protection, stops nothing fling up or denting the sump, but he also said it helps with smooth air flow, no turbulant air around the engone. good idea i think! He mentioned a problem come MOT time though.. they insist on seing some type of bolt. but it will have to be removable to chage oil.

Anyones ideas on how well this could work.. cant be too hard to produce

A sump guard like that is definately a good idea as far as I'm concerned for off road stuff... I'm going to make one for Agnes that goes from the bumper and under the existing tubular one back to beyond the gear linkage in light of Jons recent misfortunes... Thing is when it's muddy and dirty it doesn't matter a great deal I suppose as the terrain is soft but Agnes is going to do most of her off road work in the Wesh mountain forestry comission trails... MASSIVE ROCKS... It will be nice to be able to slide off stuff like that without having to remove bits of gearbox/sump/transmission from the countryside!!

As far as making it 5mph faster on a motorway run... Hmmm... Any panda is quite capable of breaking the speed limit on the motorway... :p

I had a look round that car aswell, he said he shed quite a bit of weight removing the back, picked the car up on one side to prove it!:p

Very much doubt the sump guard improved speed and can't really see the point unless going off-road either. If you wanna make it go faster, you'll have to make it as aerodynamic as possible by.... erm....hnmmm... driving with the windows shut? :D

did anyone take any photos of the Panda Pickup? I saw one on Ebay about 18 months ago to 2 years and nearly bid on it but needed shed loads doing to it and would prob have needed towing away. It looked really qwerky though and was black iirc. Any one remember this one on Ebay? think it was on there for £26 at the time!!!

This is the only one i have. Theres more in the gallery or events thread.

Jeni or James might have some they dont mid sharing too. Sure i saw them snapping away at it.

Very nice, like the colour! the one on Ebay was a bit of a shed and black, looked like it was about to fall to peices! so unless they have done loads of work on it a resprayed then I guess it's not the same one :D
