Technical Ulyssee sliding door close indicator fault

Hi, have a 98 Ulyssee which has always had one door that needed slamming to turn off the door open indicator (and turn int lights off). This now wont work however hard its slammed shut. How does the electrical switching work on these doors ?? I presume it must be on the actual door locking mechanism at rear of door (where it closes around the main door catch on chassis), but when I feel inside the door around the door lock, I cant feel any wires going to it. Front doors certainly register this way as with them open you can manually operate the door lock & see little red light go off.
