Hi I'm a new visitor to this Forum, before writing this I've read all the past threads regarding this problem, I feel so silly!!! but then who does all the homework before buying? My Ulysee is an ex Addison Lee, bought at 60,000, now has 78,000 is our (workhorse) Taxi. Yesterday morning I noticed a "kick" start from idle. Not every time but enough to realise somethings not right, we had a very, very bad storm the night before, lots of "big" puddles, hoping just "damp" can't get any garage to check for a week!!! :bang: no warning on dash? wanted to check oil level, can't find where to check under bonnet???? :bang: I'm praying it's not as bad as what I've been reading on this forum!! any ideas welcome. Many Thanks

22 Hours from my original post, and Aotomatic Gears seem to have cleared itself of the problem :) It looks like it was the "water" from the storm.
Not a good thing to happen, but if the worst is over, PHEW!!!!!!! what a relief.(y)

Hi,don't want to scare, but do you have a particulate filter? If so check the fluid level and top up if necessary. What exactly do you mean by a kick!!!!!!!!Does the box go into limp home mode?If so look to replace particulate filter.By the way,i think you may have a sealed gearbox, and as such won't be able to check oil level.

Auto gears ok!!!
Engine cooling Fan on for 48/72 hrs last week, nightmare trying to get a good mechanic to work out it needed a new Relay, this was diagnosed on Friday at 5pm, Fiat Dealer don't keep on shelf, Halfords don't stock, PEUGEOT dealer came up Trumps!!!! same as used in Peugot 806.
LATEST PROBLEM, Warning light Diesel additive Low??????

Re: Ulyssee Diesel additive warning message

With the Diesel Additive Low Warning on Dash and a general idea what it's all about now! have booked in a Fiat Dealer (reluctantly) for a diagnostic report. None of the garages round here want to touch it.
Question, does the Filter need changing at 80,000 or 100,000?

Re: Ulyssee Diesel additive warning message

From what I gather the filter needs changing when it starts to restrict the exhaust flow.
A pressure switch mounted between the front and back of the filter triggers when the pressure builds up.
So I guess it could happen earlier or later.
I posted a thread on this earlier.
MY plan is to add additive myself. Get a dealer to rest the computer to know more additive has been added.
When the filter moans it's blocked I'll take it off and attempt a clean myself. If that fails I'll remove it completely.

4 litres of addititive and a bill of £217 later, the dealer can't reset the computer???
Now the exhaust has blown!!!!! £834+ will this ever end????
Filter needs changing at a cost of £55o +
No wonder Fiat has stopped Production on these!!!(n)

Get a second opinion. The exhaust is available in sections and on the diesel versions are also available as aftermarket. The whole exhaust and catalyst can't have failed surely. If it is the back box where it joins the centre pipe then you can buy just this section. They fit it by cutting the pipe and joining it to the new piece. Should be about £130-£140. It's a very common problem and is due to poor welding and support of the exhaust system. I have heard of the filters being cleaned for the FAP, do a search on www.eurovan2.com for information. There is also info on there about resetting the computer.

If you do need the parts, try Citroen, I found them to be much cheaper and the parts are identical for everything apart from the body panels etc.

I am sorry to say that in my experience the Fiat Techs have little training on the Ulysse and tend to experiment to fix the problems. Not their fault, just the way it is. You could try a Citroen or Peugeot garage as they were sold in greater numbers and probably have more experience of these cars.

Good luck

Disagree to a degree as there is a excellent 2 day course on the ulysse which concentrates on the FAP system so dealers have no excuse. We never had a FAP (or DPF) problem as they are actually easy to diagnose...not over the internet but with examiner connected to vehicle.Loads of info/manuals are supplied after course but I feel as if techs dont get time to revise this info as in any dealership time is money.

Many thanks to all of you that have responded, I managed to find a excellant welder who sorted the break, only charged me £20.:)

Remember the Auto boxes are usually only good for 75,000 miles..... there's a reason why Addir Lee dropped the Uly.....

Hi, I'm new here. I have a Ulysee Elegansa 2.0, 2003. The gearbox is slipping gears, setting off in 3rd it feels like and refuses to go into 4th on motorway. It drops gears involuntarily and just a lot of wierd raections from the gearbox.

HELP!!
thanks
