i will be replacing my tyres soon, and i am thinking of getting TOYO PROXES T1-S (205/40/17). are these a good tyre. i have found them for sale on www.mytyres.co.uk for £62.50 each. is this a good price, or does anyone know were you can get them cheaper.

I have heard they are awesome tyres gripping wise and are still quite good in the rain, in snow/ice they're like other tyres not the best. My mate has them on his focus

Re: Re: Tyres

I have those fitted to mine. I can't think of a bad thing to say about them! The progressive breakaway is brilliant instead of just letting go. You can really feel what the car wants to do and you have a nice amount of time to control it.

They wear nicely too. They will last a good while, subject to how the car is driven obviously.

Go for the Toyo definitely, that's my advice.

Have had all sorts in the past and this is the best and is one of the cheapest leading manufacturers

Re: Re: Re: Tyres

i would agree with all of that. the breakaway on them is excellent as it is so progressive, you can feel the grip reducing on the back but it never snaps. in the wet i havent driven tyres that are better - and that includes eagle f1s! in the dry there is pretty much limitless grip and bags of feel to them. the downside is they wear reasonably quickly but that could just be that my route to work is down an empty backroad! in 2500 miles the fronts have worn 1.5mm so id say 10k and theyll need replaced. in 15" theyre only 32.50 to boot.

on a side note, id recommend sticking with the 185/55/15 instead of going for the larger 195/50 size....the ride is a fair bit crashier and some fluidity is lost although there is a little bit more maximum grip but not really noticeable. just my tuppence.

ps. the grip in snow is appaling (but then again thats the same for all preformance tyres!)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Tyres

They're cheap - I paid £58.00 each all in for 205/55/15 on my HGT.

Their lifespan is **** poor, buy what do you expect for under £60 a throw.

Stick to Pirelli.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Tyres

i never like pirelli, poor life and poor grip in my experience! That was p2000

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Tyres

if your read EVOs tyre test from 2002 the toyos did pretty damn well, near equal second to the conti and the eagle f1.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Tyres

I got some "nakangs" on my 17" wolfrace, what do you guys think of them, so far i noticed there good in the dry but absolutely crap in the wet!
Anyone else know of them?
Stu

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Tyres

@ Stu. Evolution mainly fit Nangkang tyres to most of their wheels.

@Wimmy. I have a set of Kumho Ecsta Supra tyres on my bravo (205/40/17). I also have the same set on My corsa (195/55/15) and my dad also has a set on his Merck CLK 320 Cabriolet.

They are brilliant tyres, and the whole family likes them. My dad prefers them to his old Pirellis.

I bought them for £40 a corner at Elite. The prices include either delivery or fitting.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Tyres

I have just put some 195/50/15 toyos on the back and soon as the fronts wear out I will be putting them on there too. My dad has them on his 306 and my mate has em on his civic Type R and they rate them well.

You wont find em much cheaper than Mytyres.com I was looking on there for them but when I needed them they had sold out otherwise I would have got them from there, just need to find somewher to fit them but plenty of places will do that cheap

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Tyres

I've heard that the Toyos are grippy but don't last too well, but no direct experience to back that up.

I've got Firestone Firehawks on mine, and they're the best tyres I've had on any of my cars - much better all-round than Michelins, Goodyears or Pirellis, (can't remember exactly which types) although they were probably just "ordinary" tyres rather than "performance" ones, so that's probably not saying too much!

I will consider the Toyos when the Firestones need replacing.

Rich.

They're brilliant.

I got 205/45 R16's for £66 each from Bracknell Tyres, fully fitted, etc.

Go for them.

GSD3 FI RULEZZZZ

Goodyear Eagle F1 Gsd3 is the best of all forget about kumho or toyo they are crap

Re: GSD3 FI RULEZZZZ

i have to agree. the toyo's are great in the dry but crap in the wet. they also wear very quickly. Got goodyear f1's on at the mo (gsd 2's) and they are absolutely superb. Will never use anything but F1's on my car.
