I've got a 2001 Bravo 1.2. I'm pretty happy with it, and I'm even quite surprised with the reasonable performance (for a little engine).

However, the Firestone tyres it came with are shite. Can anyone recommend a tyre that suits these cars? I'm not looking for loads of traction, just something that's a bit more progressive: the Firestones seem to lose traction very quickly, and sometimes at strange times.

PS: I only bought this because it was cheap (under 7k, new from a Fiat dealer!), but I'm pleasantly surprised.

RE:

Once some1 told me that tyres and brakes are the most important thing in the car you must never let them down.
Since then, I check every week both parts.
So try to buy a good brand new tyre (and brakes), for your security!.
Standard tyres aren´t so good. They´re intermediates.
I´ve purchased Michelin Pilot, coz standard GoodYear´s were unstables, very weared.
Also Yokohama´s, Continental´s, Bridgestone´s and many other brands are very good.
Good luck.

I have conti's on the front and yoko's on the back and defo better than the p6000 that I have had on the car. They hold really well and are good in the wet.

Conti's???

I had conti's on the front of my 1.8 but i wasn't very impressed with them, i din't think they gripped that well especially on dry corners and they wore out in about 8k! Much happier since i fitted some toyo proxes.

I've heard good things about the Toyo Proxes, I mgiht give them a go.

The Firestones are fairly new, but they're a terrible tyre in my opinion.

We've got Pirelli P6000s on the Punto, and they're OK unless it rains. They're great for lift-off oversteer, but don't tell my girlfriend! The Firestones aren't too bad in the wet, but poor at all other times.

How are your Toyos wearing: do they look like they'll have a reasonble life?

toyo's

I've only had them on a few weeks so can't tell how the're wearing yet, so far the're pretty quiet and grip better than the Conti's. I can't see them wearing any worse than the Conti's but if they do i'll be here sharing my frustration!
