Hi, I am looking for experiences with a specific brand of tyre 125r12 for a 500. There is Pirelli, VeeRubber, Datex, Radar, Nuvolari….but I can’t find any comparison between any of them. Can anyone help me?

Model
500L
Year
1969
Mileage
0
All I can offer is that the New Pirelli tyres are very well made compared to others…….I bought a set of 4 for when I had my 500 and the Pirelli’s were far better in quality………unfortunately I can’t remember what the originals were, still got 2 Pirelli here as well and they are the ones that state ‘tubed type’ on the side wall…..

The latest Pirelli, and Michelin, tyres that can be fitted onto the original Fiat rims will probably have "tubeless" on the side-wall. However, the wheels themselves were not designed for "tubeless" tyres, so you MUST fit a tube inside them. Both Pirell AND Michelin have stated (in writing) that it is quite safe to do that with these tyres

Cheers the Whitakers for sharing your experience. I know Pirelli is an A brand and certainly a save and probably the best choice. When I look at a Michelin, the other A brand, in 125r12 on a picture I don’t like the shape of the tyre. I already bought the tubes.

Evening Mr Hobbler, interesting about both companies stating in writing that it is safe to fit tubes………..but let’s not kick that tin can round the yard again……..

I've got the Pirellis, they've been great. We've done a few couple-a-hundred mile road trips with long runs at 60mph. I live near lots of real twist and turn mountain roads & they do great there as well-- I kinda push it too. I put Michelin tubes in them.

The former Suzuki Jimny that Italians drive nowadays on narrow mountain roads is a Fiat 500 2x4, probably equipped with Pirelli cinturato since this is an Italian brand and develloped as a radial tire for smaller cars like the Fiat 500 and 600 in the late 50’ s or early 60’s

I saw a few of those last time I was there, wish I could get one here!
