Tom, further to your point, I think that no naturally aspirated engine that has had a turbo conversion was designed for a turbo. You need to alter the changes yourself.
I am not 100% sure what is exactly included with the turbo kit provided, but I think that a proper conversion need to see many parts fly out of the engine and exchanged with new uprated ones. Pistons, rings, fuel pump, cams, clutch, pressure-plate etc. Of course it all depends on the boost provided by the turbo. A stage 1 conversion providing between 30-40bhp could hardly need much changes on the engine.
