Im looking for some advice on my punto 1.9 jtd. Im having problems with the turbo not kicking in and leaving the car with next to no power. If the car is running at a low temperature (Which it does most of the time) the turbo will not work leaving the car with little power and we arent able to build the revs up either. This could well be how the car is supossed to be set up and other than this its a fantastic car, but it is very hit and miss when pulling out of a junction with not acceleration.

I've a vague recollection that some of those cars are designed not to boost before the engine is up to temperature.
But it should warm up after 2 or 3 miles. If not, I'd think that either one of the temp sensors or the thermostat is out of order.

Thanks for the response. I dont think it will be the temperature sensor or thermostat as it will eventualy warm up, especialy if we are sat in traffic and then theres no problem with the turbo, but as we get going again the engine cools down and the turbo stops working. It sounds so stupid but the faster we go, the cooler the temperature gets and the power drops off 
Overcooling (especially with slow warm up) might indicate a stat sticking open. It's rare (unless it's a fail safe type) but does happen. They may be very cheap (check!) in which case worth a punt.
