hay guys, i need to know how the ECU gets the information about how much its boosting? i'm assuming there is a sensor somwhere in the system? if so can someone show me it please? otherwise could someone explain it to me?

The engine doesn't see what boost you run. It looks at the amount of air being taken in by the AFM and guesses.

BD if you are thinking of Turbocharging your N/A 5 pot, save yourself about Two grand and a lot of hastle and just swap for a 20VT engine to begin with. This has been discussed loads on the forum through the years, and the outcome is always the same. :)

So they won't let you put a turbo engine in, but they'll let you turbo your current engine?

So you want to produce less power than a 20VT, but pay more for it? :p
You've got issues with lowering compression, new manifold, turbo itself, oil feed, intercooling, new exhaust, and that's just to get the bits bolted together.
Trust me, you're on a hiding to nothing (and that's with people taking the **** out of you for wasting your money :p).

god fine, i give up i'm just going to buy a coop

I know you don't want to hear this, but why don't you just put up with the Marea as it is for another year's no claims, then with the money saved from trying to turbo the marea (£2K min) and selling the Marea itself, you could buy a 20VT.

Ryan.
You have only just got the car. Enjoy it how it is, run it for 12 mths, and swap for a coupe when you have saved up.
To turbo the engine, as prev mentioned, it will cost a lot of money which is not worth while. On the other hand, porting the head is a way forward to increase mass air flow through the head. IMO, leave well alone.

Andy.:)

I don't think I agreed with you on this one... now what you could do is supercharge that 20V and then sell the engine to me when I get my Bravo and we'll both be happy :p

Calm down Ryan! :p
What I mean is if you turbo your current engine it'll cost a lot of money, and not produce as much power as the Coupe 20VT engine. Then if you decide to upgrade to a 20VT engine, you'll have to buy one, and if you sell the Marea engine you won't get much for it (because it has less power than a 20VT engine, is not as well tested, and 20VT engines aren't that expensive). If you followed that route I could see you losing thousands of pounds...
