And replaced the internal light's festoon bulbs with these:

Quick update: I've now swapped the above with some warm white
festoon-style LEDs bought from Clas Ohlson:

which IMHO are a nicer tint for the interior. No CANBUS error as the
interior light isn't monitored, but due to their low current, they light
up very dimly even when supposedly off

The hids-direct ones are now in the number plate lights- where they're
impressively bright, but they DO give a CANBUS error message
Not really a problem as it goes from the display after a minute,
so I just ignore it

The LED DRL replacement bulbs work really well with no issues
