Before i replace the front tyres with a new set can somebody tell me what the tracking should actually be set to. I would like this clarified before i shop around my area for the best deal.

Cheers

Some people reckon that setting the tracking to zero degrees helps to minimise wear on the outer edge of the front tyres. I've done this before and it's fine that way, but does introduce a very slight loss of 'feel' to the steering. But not so much that it matters.

For the past eighteen months though, after buying new front tyres, I've had it set at whatever it is that FIAT recommend, and the wear has been perfectly acceptable, with slightly better 'feel'. So that's what I'd go for.:)

Whoever you get to set the tracking will have a list of manufacturers settings, so they'll have FIAT's recommendation.

My last two sets have been eaten away on the inner edge - the first of those because the ball joint needed replacing, admittedly.

I was wondering what tracking adjustment to ask for to, before I buy another set. I guess it's warm enough to come off the winters now anyway :)

Hi

Had my 51 plate tracked yesterday, had been taking off the inside edge

I managed to clip a kerb during the snow we had and the inside edge of the tyre was in a very bad condition so after MOT and a new track rod end I got it organised

Had 4 wheel tracking and they were parallel, should have been -2 according to the book, new tye was on 3-4 months and showed signs of wear on the inner edge

It doesn't need to be out much to make a difference but the guy doing the tracking should set it correctly

Hope this helps

Regards
