Totally OT....windows xp help needed

Help!

Everytime i double click on a file in windows explorer, it doesn't open the file it just brings up the search page!

I have to right click and then select open every time and it's starting to anoy me

Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Daft question but have you tried a restart?

Normally sorts out xp, if its still not working after the restart then......dont know really?

@ KeaithR: do you work on an IT Helpdesk by any chance! standard answer "have you tried a reboot?"

like you said though, it's amazing how often that works!!

Sort of, in a sixth form college, so if anyone has a problem, we just tell em to reboot and tell us if its still not workin, 9 times out of 10 it sorts out the problem youve got to love Microsoft

Restart does not work! It's been like this for a few weeks now! I was thinking it might be something to do with the settings in the Folder options tab or something?

have you checked the mouse buttons havent been reversed in the control pannel

if that isnt the case

try doing a rollback on the mouse driver if that dont work try updating the driver

if worst comes to worst do a restore to last known configuration when the pc boots (will be on the safe mode screen)
