Hi people,

More news on my "dead" Marea:

It is now going to be fixed. My father-in-law has a best mate who is a retired mechanic who is going to look at it. He seems to know what he is doing and in confident he can remove the "head" when he tows it to his workshop and fix any damage.

Aparantely I am going to need some parts probably and he rattled off a whole list. But he is sorting all that and I just cough up the ££!

Anyway he needs to know the "torque settings" for the car. I have looked everywhere and cannot find them. Does anybody out there have them and if so can they pass them on to me? The car is Marea 115 ELX 1.8 16v

Many thanks.
Alex

Hi , have a porters manual for this car and there are two pages of torque settings, which ones were you looking for??? Great to hear that the car will not be written off, would have been a shame as they are a brill car!! :)

That would be great. I need to know the various settings for putting it al back together, aparantely the "torque settings" for the 115 16v ELX 1.8. Thats all I know, sorry

If you could scan them and send them to me *eMail deleted* or post them here that would be great :p

If you need monetary payment for it I can arrange that also :)

Hi,

Sorry must have missed this one :(

I'll scan and post tonight.

Many thanks polecat. I look forward to being able to pass these details on to my man who is doing the car and being able to drive her once again (y)

mareaowner: At the moment all I know is that I have two mechanic "friends of the family" coming round this Friday to take her away to their workshop. They plan to "take the head off" and inspect etc. They have new belt to put on and can get hold of valves and the other stuff they need aparanetly.

They looked at the old belt and it hasnt actually snapped.... just missing about six teeth so im hoping its not as bad as it could be.

Need to get torque settings though so im told

Any update Alex on the repair to your Marea???

The head has been removed and the engineer told me there are 8 bent "exhaust valves." He is going to hopefully order them (not sure where from but I trust him) and get it sorted as soon as possible. GOing to need a new head gasket and belt also (once again this is just what I was told.)

It appears my Marea liveth on!!!
\o/ rejoice :D
