How can you tell if the water pump is working correctly.
My heater is poor and the bottom raditor hose is cold near the raditor, I have checked the thermostat and it's opening and closing okay. The heater hoses get hot as well.

You could have an airlock. Set the heater to hot and take pipe off at radiator bottom to rid of airlock for a few secs and replace. Now test the heater. It should be better.
