yeah bolts straight in. You need to remove the plastic shield that is on the side of the 1.6 radiator. But....and there is always a but, what will you use as a header tank? Coupe runs it seperate. And doesn't the coupe have three water outlets? Could go look in the shed if you really want to know.

Cheers TH

Header Tank??? you mean where I load the water? As for the three water outlets, could I not just block them? Was only really interested because I saw the Coupe Rad had 2 Fans instead of 1 which should be better for cooling.. not for weight but it won't be that much :p

i saw that too... but why do you have t use the radiator also?... surely just mounting the fans onto the existing rad would be much easier.. then splice the power lead.

Well I thought it would be easier to use a Coupe rad if if went straight in as if I have to mount Fans to the Tipo Rad, unless the supporting frame is the same then the RAD would have to be modified to carry the two fans on the Coupe frame and the Tipo Rad.... if you get me.

Its not a real issue really after thinking about it more. What I really want to do overall is keep driving engine temps down over long distance drives. The fans will only really help while stationary which the single fan will cater for.

wrong 2 fans do not cool better than 1. But they can be made to be staged and take less space. Dont bother, the fans arent part of the rad so you could play with them seperately if you really want.

Yeah sorry header tank is where you fill the antifreeze. The chap above is right, coupes with ac have twin fans. And not so easy as relay is in ac relays. Pretty annoying to split, but very do-able. I did when i wired the coupe fans for the tipo. Used coupe radiator. And no way the twinfans would fit on the tipo rad. Marginal benefit also as rich said. Although two fans will move more warm air from behind the radiator.

This sounds like a wild goose chase. Whats wrong with the original radiator? I never had a problem. I did have a problem with a dicky gauge reading high sometimes. This was caused by the main earth strap.

Be better getting a quicker rpm replacement fan and a stainless steel radiator for maximum cooling. 2 fans might *look* better tho.

Does the gauge reading affect fan initialisation? because my fan seems to be on a lot more often then it did back in the day.

No, they have seperate senders. fan switch is in the radiator. temp sender is in the head.

Which is exactly what I thought which implies that my gauge reading and fan on a lot more often mean that my engine is running a wee bit warmer then it used to.

If the Gauge was just reading high then the fan would stay off but because the Gauge is high AND the fan comes on I am presuming its not as cold as it used to be.

Yeah thats true, but is there actually problem? How hot is it getting? Running cold is not a good thing.

IF the engine was running hotter, too hot, there is a problem. Fitting more fans is not a solution to the problem, its a solution to the symptom.

When sitting in Traffic the fan comes on more Frequently then it should

When on high speed drives the Temp Needle Reads above the 90 mark when in the past it used to read below 90.

I think this started happening when I started using all in one Anti-Freeze / Coolant. In the summer the engine used to get really hot and I couldn't understand why. So hot (Said the temp Gauge) the car used to switch off at random.

I drained the radiator of the anit-freeze / coolant and just used plain water and then it started running normally, a lot cooler then with the coolant.

But now, even in colder months its running warm again. Don't have any switching off issues or anything but I'd rather keep it cool then melt a head.

The water pump appears to be pumping.

Any Ideas?

IT may have been overheating for any reason, maybe air in the system, blocked radiator etc. Coolant type wont cause it.

Overheating an engine to the point it stops is excessive. It has likely done some damage. Id say that blew a headgasket at least and now the symptms are starting to show. It could be the radiator too.

Either way, the fans sound like the are woring fine. If its running hotter, the fans will be going more, nothing wrong with that.
