Well this morning my tipo finnaly refused to start.
Any help would be appreciated.

For a few days ive had the battery warning light on, but only dim. When i rev the light comes on brighter then fades as revs drop again. I thought it was just moisture in the alternator as its been doing it for a while but after a couple fo miles the light was going off.

This morning it refused to start. The battery should of had a good charge as it spent sat night on charge. Also i tried with a booster pack which was definatly fully charged and it still would not start. Was like there was very little power there.

Got a feeling its a bad connection. Any ideas of where to look first?

Could be the brush pack on the alternator? Can't remember if you had done work on the altenator before?

If you hadn't read elsewhere mark my car IS getting weighed in - any bits you need? Need to drive it there so no you can't have the engine :p

Hmm, i do have a towing dolly, and an a frame. Pitty my car doesnt have a tow bar.

The alternator is so far up the back of the bloody engine bay.
WHYYYYYYYYY:mad: :p

Not done any work on the alternater......yet

I meant the volvo! :)

I might only just be able to tow a car...

Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) OR a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.

If I drain the oil, coolant and fuel tank and remove the spare wheel out the tipo that might just make it less than the unlaiden weight of the volvo. (y)

aas long as your booster cables are ok,the car still should of started even without an alternator.you have problems on the starting circuit.proberly at the alternator or starter motor connections.:)

Have you checked the Earth lead from battery to chassis and from engine to chassis ? Both should be clean and tight. I've had similar problems in the past on both cars and bikes and after changing and pulling off about everything electrical it was a simple earth connection that was the problem.
