How do I disconnect these things? I have painted my headlights euro-yellow and the wipers (which don't work anyway) will take the paint off if they operate. I can't even see the motors, let alone any wires going to them. Help!
The wiper motors are hidden behind the headlight assembly. You need to unclip the grill first after removing the wiper arms to see them more clearly. It might be worth checking the wiring to see if this is the problem. A lot of 5 doors have them removed...I guess because years of salt corosion have taken their toll. They work on my car and on my sons and are quite effective but I take your point re the euro paint.
If you hav'nt got a Haynes manual get one cheap off Ebay it is suprisingly informative about things like this which are of course shared with other Tipo models.
'Bother' with what? Aint no bother to me - I've done the lights yellow as it's adds the Euro look to the car, probably what all foreign Tipos would have had when it was new and makes it stand out from other Tipos PLUS it makes it stand out from other cars too and I think it looks cool - I am dreading the response on here when I put my Fiat/Lancia rally decals on the car! LOL - I aint really bothered if other Tipo owners think it looks crap, cos I don't. However, my beautiful car will have patchy headlamps if I don't disable the wipers!
lol yeah, if only I knew how to isolate them, I wouldn't have to take them off at all etc I debated getting the bodywork guy to fill the holes in the grill the wipers make so I could remove them completely, but decided against it, because although they are absolutely useless, they DO look good IMO. I'll suss it, I'm sure
Hi all you have to do is locate the lamp wiper motors and then disconnect the wiring plugs which connect into them behind the head lamps. Its a doddle!
