Hi I have a 1995 Tipo S 1.4ie with 'Cat'. I have a problem with a flat spot sometimes when accelerating in first and second gear, also when crusing or decelerating, it happend this morning on the Motorway when approching my turn off, it was as if the engine had stopped firing for about 1 or 2 seconds then went back to normal. On my return jurney she ran fine, no problem at all, i even took her up too 90mph (Sorry officer):worship: just too see if that would help, if it is a fuel related problem. I have only had the car for a week so i don't know how it has been treated recently, the tank was vertualy empty when i took it over. So i suspect it might be dirt in the fuel system. Also i occationly have the Battrey light come on. It starts bright and gradually fades so that in sunlight you can hardly see it. This happend a week ago, on the Wednseday morning, it was one of those dark and damp mornings so i was using blower for screen demist rear demist wipers and lights. so i thought i am giving the battery a pasting. but the battery is fine (Brand new) for the rest of the week she was fine then woe and be hold the same thing happend this Wednesday gone, The battery light come on in the morning and then faded, and hasen't been on since. I know "She don't like Wednesdays"

Any ideas folkes ?

'Battery Light' is a bit of a red herring as it's almost always a problem with the altenator! 11 years or wear will mean it probably needs a new set of brushes.

Not sure about the misfire thing - could be worth giving it a full service (oil, air, plugs, leads)

Thanks guys, She has had a oil and filter change, i have checked the oil and the filter are clean. also i changed the plugs last Saturday. i have not checked the air filter though. Is the Injection system more tempermental than the old carb ?
I am new too this, I had a 1990 Siearra Saffire before.

Proberly alternator brushes need changing and also check wires at alternator are tight and clean. There is also an extra Earth lead on some Tipos, so check all Battery leads are sound with good clean connections. There is also a major Earth wire to the fuse box. Check this is not getting hot. Proves if it is, there is a poor Earthing somewhere.
Running problems proberly are fuel related. Run a bottle of injector cleaner through the fuel tank, and change the fuel filter located close to tank. Also, clean the breather system out and change the Airfilter pronto.
