Technical Tipo Engine oil

With a Tipo 1.6 8v which of these will give optimum performance-Synthetic vrs semi synthetic engine oils. I think the semi synthetic is better. What do you think? What is your experience?

the general thinking is fully synth is better. but i've been told that older engines prefer semi synth as the mineral oil tends to clear the muck out more which is better for them. Really when it comes down to it as long as it meets the recommended viscosities that's all that matters.

I go with fully synthetic but rather than increasing the service intervals, I stick to my reduced ones. i.e. oil change for petrol every 6,000 miles.
