Its timebelt time chaps!

Anyone up north (the real north!) dealt with any good garages and have approximate price? Looking at belts and tensioners and waterpump. Its not broken but if it failed 5k after having the side of the engine off I'll be kicking myself.

Going to ring Walkers tomorrow since they have just a little experience with the engine.

Not too far I suppose. I thought power fiat was down south?

Have you had work done there? Have you prices I could compare when I phone Walkers?
no i have not used him but FCCUK say he is the man.he also runs a leeds place as well as the southern one.and he will be a lot cheaper then walkers who charge silly money.go to his site for prices[via FCCUK].sorry for no links as iam a PC novice.

I emailed the powerfiat in essex asking about if they had a branch in Leeds and how much it would be. I didn't get around to phoning Walkers as I was putting together my new kitchen (y)

May phone for a quote from my local fiat garage.... Checking first that there is a defibrillator handy for when they quote the price..

fiat auto specialist,stockton,tel- 01642 617775
kershaws at gate helmsley near stamford bridge on the brid rd from york.sorry, dont know number.both recommended by FCCUK.if they do coupes, they do tipos:)

Thanks for that, I'll try them tomorrow.

Here is the quote from Walkers...

  • £315 - Timing belt change - Does not include water pump change or tensioners.
  • £18 to £25 each depending on which are worn. £150 if they all needed changing.
  • £150 to have water pump changed while belts are off.
Sounds quite a bit since powerfiat change the 20v turbo coupe for £399 and that includes tensioners and water pump - and removing the engine? 16v should be much easier?

if you are changing the belts, only get a quote for all tensioners and water pump.peace of mind and relibility.i have seen about £400 to do the job all in.what about motormech at birmingham? they are supposed to be the best and one of the cheapest.a bit far,but guaranteed a good job.:)

If you are willing to drive down to London for it (bout a mile off the M1) V.P Cars will def do a good job.

Fiat and Alfa Specialists :)

Ask for Lee or Mick and tell em Hasani told you about them, They'll get back to you with a quote as they might not be able to do it immediately.

godd luck (y)

Still waiting for a quote back from powerfiat. I'll probably ring them up.

Plan B. Buy a Marea Weekend and stop putting miles on my Sedi. It was sold as having the timing belt changed around 8k ago by a guy who was into Alfa's in a big way. Can't guarantee its been done though so bit worried that it could go pertwang!

take cam belt cover off and look at the belts.if any rubber bits around the pulleys or a bit of shine, change.:)

Just got the quote from Powerfiat. Aparantly they have had to put the plans for a Leeds branch on hold for the moment. The good news being they will do the timing belt with tensioners all inclusive for 250! Half the price of the other garages! Anyone got a spare room down essex way?!

drop your car off at power fiat.hire a car,go to the NEC at birmingham, see classic car show then return and pick-up car.if life was so easy eh. still, you could do that.:)
