Technical Tipo 1.4ie start problem

Don't do it, The only time I had that problem was the one where the earthing was unplugged from something and another time after I clocked up nearly just over 100miles in town driving in a day (my my that was a busy day) I stopped at the cash point to get a munch, jumped back in the car and it didn't want to start, understandable as if I was forced to do random missions like that I would have needed a wee rest too, I left it for 10mintes turned the key and away I went but it only happened once.

Check your earthing, if not it must be something to do with heat a heat sender/sensor like someone else said earlier in this thread.

Calmed down a bit now. Managed to find a garage that will tow it in and run diagnostics on it for £35+vat. They can't do anything till Friday but I will post the results here. Many thanks all for your assistance.

Ok guys, i have a similar problem with my fiat tipo 1.4 ie S it seems that it wants to go but then doesnt i have tryed bump and jump starting it but it doesnt want any of it! I thought maybe it was water or moisture in the dizzy or maybe the plugs need changing but im not 100% ive took the dizzy cap off and looked at it but it seems fine i had the car running last week and when i came to run it again yday (as its declared SORN) it just doesnt want to run, my battery is new and there is fuel in the tank! but it has been extreamly cold! any ideas????

OK m8 ill give it a try and ill let you know the results, just not sure when im gonna get time to do it! lol :)

Well finally got the car back. It was the crank sensor. They checked everything out, including testing coil, fitted sensor charged me £80.

get the garage to sort it out. you payed them money to repair it. i would.

Well it's dead. The ecu has gone and they reckon it'll be £400 + to put right. Like they say car not worth it and I agree. Now looking for scrap to collect that won't cost me for taking away. Ta for all your help here.

proberly nothing more then a dry joint in the ecu. just wants soldering. also, the earth and main plugs for the ecu can play up on tipo's. are you 100% sure its the ecu? :(

I agree wwith sump re the car being fixable. I would look for a second hand ECU if indeed this is the problem. Try FL Autos-They are in Bourne Lincs - very reliable. Sorry I don't have their number to hand but they can be found via 118 etc, etc.

Ps - Sumplug - if you read this....How is that Sedici coming along?

sedici stood still on labour by me for past three weeks. if the weather breaks tomorrow, will try and plumb in the water pipes and rad. and get the ex manifold fitted. not far now from completion. my big worry now is the brakes. iam worried the calipers are seized. we shall see.:)
