Just wanted to know if it was still legal to tint front windows and what percentage of light had to pass.

Also will i be able to get a qualified company to do it or will I have to do the front myself.

Cheers

I got mine tinted 35% about 6 months ago and have had no problems with the law yet. Plenty of people will fit them but say its your problem if you get asked to remove them.

I've been stopped twice for speedin, amd they never commented on my the light tints I put on the fronts.

I did a little guide for tinting the windees, but there are much more authorative guides online, altho I have links to neither on my work pc.

I removed the front windows on mine, cos its the only way to do it properly in my opinion. It makes the tinting dead easy, but getting the glass out can be an absoltue arse cos of the retaining clips. Worth doing though.

i had to take my tints out in january - the tints were not illegal but once put on my windows they were (didn't realise there was already a slight tint in the glass). so make sure to check your glass before putting them on.

laura.

Did you remove them yourself laura, or did you get the pros to do it. Just wondering as ive got fairly heavy tint on the fronts and im thinking of taking them off. They were done properly so i think id struggle to peel them off myself. How much £ to get them removed i wonder?

Slightly more subjective... but is a black bravo with clear front windows and the rest tinted gonna look like some sort of mini van?!

Lukas, i had a prohibition order put on my car to remove the front tints and because it was over new year i only had about 2 days to get them off. my tints were done pro so i was gutted. i took them off myself - got a blade in top corner to ease a bit off and then pulled them off in one, the only problem you will have is sticky windows but most car places sell stuff to get it off.

my bravo is rossa and looks just as good with the tints off, i think your black one will look nice as well - definately not like a van.

get the lightest tint you can on the front, and you should get away with just a telling off from the vosa man/woman who stops and tests your car. if it transmits 50% or more, you wont be fined or get a producer/prohibition order. bear in in though that standard glass transmits only 90% as it is. if you go putting a 50% transmission film on, you'll fail the test with 45% transmission. a REALLY REALLY LIGHT smoke is supposed to be 70% transmission, which on your actual window will transmit 63% and thus avoid any real trouble. I think my film is 50% transmission, so if i'm tested its gonna be a £30 fine and a 7-10 day producer :(

Thanks Buzz

I want to put on a light smoke all the way round. I was thinking of about 35%. Dont want to spend alot of money to get told to take it off again.
