I am going to get my timing belt done next on my 1.6sx 16v brava as the last service stamp i have is at 62000 miles and i am now at 112000 miles so i dont know if the previous owner had it done.

I have seen the kit on ebay for £80 plus delivery:

Does anyone reckon this is the correct kit as i have been quoted £200 to get it done at a garage, just thought if i bought the kit myself for the garage to put on it may not cost as much.

Cheers

that kit is for the JTD so it wont fit your car.

you can buy the kit for your car at your local motorfactors.

at 112k i would definately change the tensioner, so it is better to buy a kit rather than just a belt.

Aye, was going to get the whole lot done rather than just the belt to be on the safe side.

When i had the service done the blokey said the air filter was completely blocked ffs, do people not look after their cars or what.

£200 is what I paid for kit supply and fit.

I've been quoted £179 for my bravo by the mobile mechanic that inspected my car before I bought it. Full timing belt kit, including tensioner, alternator belt, and power steering belt. And whatever else is supposed to come with it :p. I'm sure I forgot something.

Take it you've never check the air filter then?

This was after i bought the car, i always service my cars after i buy em cos you never know what the previous owner has/hasnt done to em :p

Aye, i have been quoted around £200 for a full set fitted, thought if i get one myself i could knock a bit off the price like, £55 sounds a good price.
