Hi everyone

I have a campervan on a Ducato base. It's got 138,000 kms (87,000 miles) on the clock. The guy selling it to me said that I should look at getting the timing belt done around now (i'll be honest and say that I've no idea if it was ever changed), so I've asked a local guy for a price. I've been told that to buy the kit and do a proper job will be 500 euros

Seems very steep. The guy says all pulleys etc. should be changed at the same time, he won't do just the belt.

Does anyone have any comments on this situation? I'm already paying out a lot of money for new brake cylinders, a CV joint and boot and other bits and pieces to pass an engineers report. I don't want to spend an additional 500 euros, but don't want a messed-up engine because the timing belt goes either

Shop around. I had mine done for £250 (Fiat Ducato 2.5TD 1995), but without the waterpump change.
I did read somewhere that it should be changed after 6 years even if it has not done the miles/km required.
Just retuned from holiday in the motor home and somones belt had gone after only 18000miles, but it as 7 years old.

Better to change it than have an engine rebuild/renew!!!
