I have at the moment a Fiat Punto SX60 that i have sprused up and given to the wife (y) !

I want to buy another Fiat and have about 3k to spend

FIAT COUPE ??

GOOD IDEA / BAD IDEA ........YOU GUYS KNOW MOST ABOUT THESE THINGS:)

YR THOUGHTS APPRECIATED !!!!!

do a search on this forum - lots of people have the same questions

https://www.fiatforum.com/coupe/68383-how-spot-well-cared-coupe.html

if you are looking for a cheap sports car then you are looking in the wrong direction.

You should take into consideration of all costs. Fuel, upkeep, repairs, insurance etc

They arent a cheap option, if you have the money to spend then they are an ace car to own. i have known lots of people buy these cars thinking cos they are cheap to buy they are cheap to own and then sell them months later cos they cant meet the cost of ownership.

Not for £3k. You will be looking at usually replacing a few parts and getting a full service and this will eat a big amount of your budget. I usually get a cambelt change within a month of buying a car 'just to be sure'.

I'd reccomend getting a 2.0 Marea as an introduction to the 2.0 20v engine. Will cost you about £1000 and its one of the best value cars around. Quite pretty in my opinion and its 2.0 20v engine is very willing.

You can get a decent 20v n/a for the less than 3k which is an excellent step up from a punto...they aren't cheap to run generally, probably double a year of a similar aged punto (I know as have one of each) but it is the turbo cars that tend to need a lot of tlc especially at the low budget end and hence are costly as sammiboo has said (they can for example go through tyres at £90-odd a pop)

Do your research, have a browse of www.fccuk.org/forum, especially the excellent buyer's guide (to be found in buying and selling section), get insurance quotes (even the n/a is a group 17, versus maybe group 4 for the punto) and try to get to a coupe meet to have a chat with some owners (see fccuk again)...then have a drive and see what you think...sure you won't look back :D

Right Here's what i thought i would do...:)

I am still in love with the general look of the car , and although running costs may be high ! there arn't many pleasure's in life left 4 free !!!!!!!!!(y)

I though i would up my budget to 5k (inc insurance, tax etc ) and try and get a nice one , Insurance aint too bad at £750 ( as i'm 34 with sum bonus )(y)

A good old read of the "Fiat Coupe Forum" has a superb buyers guide and all the do's and dont's of buying a coupe!!!!!!! BIG(y)

And some nice coupe's for sale!!!!!

THANKS ALOT FOR THE ADVICE .............HELPED LOADS

STILL GONNA GET 1 !!!!!!!!!!!! :)
