hi at the moment i have a bravo hgt which i love but i think its time to get a turbo coupe i know there is a 16v and a 20v model but i would like some more info on each model the benefits of each and which is more reliable and what kind of money i should be paying and what i should look out for when buying one

cheers

hello mate, i just got a 20v turbo coupe!

really happy with it! i tested my mates 16v, my other mates 16v turbo and a 20v turbo before making the choice...20v turbo all the way, loads more grunt!!

plus better handling!

just be carefull check for manifold cracks and turbo smoke!

also find out when the cam belt has been done on any coupe you go for!!

hope this helps pm me if you want morre detaisl with it!

Try and buy the best car you can with the best service record.. a cambelt change around 45/50,000 miles is vital on either car

the main difference is the 16v and 16V turbo is a four cylinder engine from the old Lancia Delta /Integrale Its a good enough engine and well maintained can last for ever

The 20v is a five cylinder engine same as the Bravo HGT and Marea 2.0 and again needs a good service record.

both cars have their niggles But as I said buy the car with the best service record and you will have a future classic..

I have had a few coupe's as company cars over the years and loved every one of them. We even sneaked a drive of the first car in the country when it was under wraps in our showroom.. we drove it round London for 100 miles then put it back under wraps :D

I'd check out fccuk for features of each car and a buyer's guide, I don't think there's one on this forum? (maybe a task for the coupe moderator, Sammi ;) )
They can be had for as little as £1000 but I'd budget 2500-3k for a decent example. Buy on condition and history, NOT mileage. Plenty of low mileage dogs out there, and they like having their legs stretched. Ask the owner about oil usage, they normally take about a litre every 1,000 miles or so, sometimes they don't, but if the owner shrugs and doesn't know, that's not a good sign. Look for servicing at a reputable specialist if possible, powerfiat, motormech etc.
I'd recommend at least £500 set aside for jobs that may pop up after you've bought her, don't spend every penny you have on the car alone. If you buy a nail, you can spend a couple of grand easy on these, they can eat money like you wouldn't believe. Check for white smoke from the exhaust after it's been idleing a while, could be the turbo or seals on it's way out.
They aren't cheap cars, they are to buy, but not to run. That's why there's so many about that are cheap - they are bought, poorly maintained and sold on. Be careful, and I'd see at least three before you buy, so you get a feel for what's decent and what's not. If possible, take somebody along that knows the coupe fairly well, perhaps a current (or ex) owner.

well as the man above siad....
