Any of you lot had your thermostat replaced?

Just had mine done and wondering if i got burned. Was told the unit is sealed and the part was £35+vat.

The one for my old festa was about £5 if i remember right.

Thats about right. They are big cast items, not the pressed tin things you got on more sensible cars.

Just done mine on me 1.4, cost £16 + Vat and fitted myself

Trouble is hasn't fixed me problem -arrrrgghhh

Overheating !!!

Actually Tom, was going to try this, but before i do the sensor which goes inside the thermostat on the 1.4, does the connector have to fit on a specific way ?

What i'm trying to say is, i have re-fitted the connector and it clipped on ok, but how do i know i have it the right way round ?

As i say, i'm going to check the fan next, but i do not think its the problem.

Temperature guage just keeps going up !!

They are polarised, no need to worry.

Does it actually boil over? Does the heater work?

Yeah i'm getting steam coming out of around the thermostat area and the heater is just blowing cold air all the time

Sounds like an airlock because the system is not sealed.

I guess a drain of the system is in order then and then make sure everything is sealed correctly ?

Get it pressure tested by a garage.

bolox, the thermostat is brand new.
At the weekend i am going to take a closer look at everything and also get a multi-meter on stuff
