im still not clued up on the whole working on my 20vt yet im getting there:eek: could anyone tell me where the thermostate is loctated i noicted my coolant is rusty colour and nees and change and might aswell change the thermo the same time also can anyone tell me the best way to bleed the system after a coolant change (y)

If you follow the top radiator hose backwards, the thermostat is on the end of it. Its between the engine and battery and is part of an aluminium casting with several hoses attached.

You buy the whole casting with the stat inside then swap it over. You will need to replace the hose clips with jubilee clips as the fiat ones can't be reused.

so deos that mean its a pricey part then not a £10 pound job :bang: where would i get one from the only reason i want to do it is today my temp gauge went up 2 100 checked the water and was really low and the water was a rusty colour so want to flush the sytem and change the state im sure i have a water leak somewhere  just gotta find it

they cost about £40 if I remember correctly - I have a spare one (brand new) though, in case you get stuck

i dont think its that bad because iv notice two pipe that dont look good and must be leaking under load the water level seems fine gonna fix the fan and hopefully all will be well

It might just be that your radiator is stuffed. If its not cooling very well due to lost fins it will cause overheating, and if it is leaking the water can evaporate pretty quickly from it so you have no obvious signs of a leak.

the rad is new so think its fine. i changed the water today and it was rusty as hell hadnt been changed in ages buy the looks of it flushed it though checked all the hoses and also found one of the wires broken on the twin fan resistor fixed that and bleed the system all seems fine now.

just gotta fix the squeaky brembos and find a new passenger door in spirt blue and she is sorted :)

To be honest I wouldn't hold out for finding a sprint blue door. Chances are when you do find one the colour match will be off and it will be obvious the door has been changed. It would probably be easier to buy a door on condition, rather than colour, and then get it colour matched to your existing paintwork.

If you do specifically want a Sprint Blue door I know that there is one available in Holland. The guy who runs the Dutch Coupe Forum (LUM) is breaking a sprint Blue Coupe.
