Booked mine last night.

24th of January, the day after the test changes :( and it has to be in Dundee cause all the Fife test centers are now closed :(

Any advice?

what's changing about it? heard something about them now including enviromental questions or similar?

best advice is not to worry :) alot of it is just common sense, as long as you have a vague idea what alot of the signs etc could mean, you'll be fine :)

hazzard perception is the one that trips most people up because they click on too much, just watch out for signs of things starting to develop into hazard rather than things you think might be about to happen

for example a group of kids at the road side isn't a hazzard so don't click on it unless one of them starts moving towards the road, then you click on it

Can't give you any advice as there was no theory test when I got my license back in the mists of time

Just wanted to wish you good luck :)

you see if i pass the theory i have no real excuse for not doing my driving test after a few more lessons and thats the bit that frightens the hell out of me lol

You'll be fine

I'm sure you'll be fine, much of it will be common sense I imagine though not sure how much it's changed since I did it 13 odd years ago. Not sure what the margin for error is now but certainly back then you could get 5 out of the 35 wrong and still get a pass. Personally, I fluked it as I basically didn't study. Don't follow my example

Anyway though, best of luck when it comes round :)

same goes for you that makes you at least 30

gees i feel young :( yeat at the same time too old to be doing my theory :(

You'll be fine Janine.
I passed my theory 2nd time round.
The multiple choice questions can mainly be found in some of the books you can get.
Hazard Perception is a bit harder, but if your alert, you'll spot the hazard's with no problems.

As for the practical test, think of the Examiner as your instructor, listen to what is said & you'll be fine.
I passed my test September 2007, **** knows how.... I'd been working through the night before my test (worked night shift at a petrol station), think I had about 1hrs kip before my lesson, then after the lesson it was straight onto my test, with Steve NoPass Parker.

He was known as NO Pass Paker, as many people failed but not me....

1thing I would also suggest Janine, is when you have passed you test (turst me you'll pass) book with your instructor for Pass Plus, it gives you mre experience & help bring the cost of insurance down.

So Good Luck Janine.

My instructor said that if you click the hazard perception test every second you pass cause it doesn't matter how many times you click just as long as you click the hazard :S

I'm already insured on the panda £62 a month for me as the main driver and my mum and venters as named drivers, so hopefully the insurance thing won't be so high when i pass i'm hoping, can't believe it's a year in February that i've had that wee panda.

and all i have to do to sit my practical is work on my manoeuvres i can do a turn in the road and reversing around a corner fine. But the reversing into a parking space and parallel parking i have trouble with :( i think its the way my instructor teaches it. He does all this one turn left until you see the curb in the side mirror then one turn right until you see the smallest part of the road in the side mirror confusses the hell out of me, but i feel bad about even thinking about going somewhere else. Venters wants me to go with a guy weve seen about cause he has a 100hp lol

My problem is i'm so scared of the whole driving on my own thing took me months to drive the panda with someone next to me lol

Your instructor's not teaching you correctly then.
I was lucky as I already knew my insructor.

Left reverse:
1) Pull past the road on your left, you wish to reverse onto & put the car in to neutarel & apply the hand brake.
2) Check for any traffic, then put the car into reverse
3) Release the handbrake & slowly bring the clutch up.
4) Steer to the left as you move.
5) Keep watching for traffic
6) once you have completed the manouver, stop the car, apply the hand brake & take the car out of gear.
7) Give yourself a pat on the back for completeing the manouver.

he's wrong.

the programmes set up to detect if you're just clicking on more or less everything, think each clip allows you a certain number of clicks in a period of time and will fail you for overclicking even if you get the hazard it's wanting you to get in that time, it does allow quite a few clicks though, its not stupidly strict, but it's set up in a way not to allow people to pass by just clicking on whatever.
