It is a good car but not the Fiat I expected!
Here it is: getting anointed!

I quite liked the original apart from the Pirelli tyres.
I did a service on one of my customers a Supermiriofiori and it drove well, it was the end of a dry Summer, a tiny bit of rain came down as I was coming up to a load of cars at a junction , as soon as I sniffed the brakes, it locked all four wheels and if I hadn't released the pedal and pulled out to stop beside the last car in line much to the drivers surprise, it could have been an expensive experience.:(

I was born and raised in Iran. After 1979 revolution which cut the country off from the rest of the world, my family ended up keeping their 1976 model 131 Mirafiori S (1.6 - 5 gears) for a long time (picture I am using as my avatar). I was born after revolution and this 131 was always there in my life until I eventually learned how to drive in it and got my driving licence. I think it was early 2000s when it was sold off.

I think the brakes were okay but needed a bit of getting used to (they felt/acted differently to other cars). I remember the clutch and steering were really stiff compared to other cars. I think what really let 131 down was the electrics. Sometimes the battery just wouldn’t charge, or the car would flat-out refuse to start. By the time we let go of the 131, I had basically become a master of jump-starting it! 😄

It also rusted pretty badly, even in Iran’s dry climate. I can only imagine what happened to the ones sold in the UK — they’ve probably dissolved into dust by now!
