Has anyone ever heard of or seen any 1.9 JTD with the 170bhp Angel remap????.
Cause i have been told that it is not posible, due to mainly turbo and intercooler limitations amongst other things, and that to be able to acheve it you would have to spend silly money on upgreding the engine, turbo, intercooler ETC.

And i was told that 150bhp on standerd engines is pushing it to its max, especialy the intercooler cant handle the higher tempratures.

So has anyone ever seen or heard of one being done??????

Why would they claim it if not pos????? or do they state what changes you would have to make????? before doing the remap???

So many ?????

Scotty.

I depends on the car mate, I'm sure the 100td can go to 170BHP - your 105 is limited to aroung 150 iirc due to the type of turbo it has.

That said, a 170BHP jump is alot so it might be worth looking at upgrading the intercooler (and brakes).

Best thing to do is talk to the fellas at Angel - they know fooking everything about this.

Change youre intercooler to an FMIC you dont have to spend silly money on one. As for the turbo there should be an easy way to change it for that of a 2.4JTd or likewise

If the turbo gets changed then it would need a bespoke tune as I imagine Angel won't have a map for that.

OK - I can give some practical advice at this point ;) although Matt is pretty much on the nose with his suggestions.
The 105 will indeed go to about 150 but anything more is pushing well beyond the reliability 'curve' as it simply wasn't meant to be that much of a performer. Essentially the 8 valve JTD engine in my Stilo is a second generaton of your Brava engine and it can be reliably tuned to 180 - but that's primarily down to the Turbo and intercooler which are different to that on the Brava.
Bunging on a big turbo (such as that off a 2.4) simply will not work without a hell of a lot of re-mapping and re-engineering, the turbo is only part of the answer after all. I'm pretty sure you could get a re-conditioned Turbo from a 115 JTD engine to fit more readily but I suspect you would still need to look at a bespoke remap and this equals much expense.
Certainly increasingly airflow into the engine is a big must - lots of ways to do that - but be careful about who you get to do a remap and have all the bits you want to add 'done' (excluding suspension/brake upgrades - I mean things like airbox, filter, turbo etc) before the event as any remap is only for the engine as it is when the remap takes place - if you add or take away stuff it's not going to be a happy car.
There are numerous tuning companies to look at, I'd strongly suggest you try and get your hands on a GSR (Fiat/Alfa tuners) airbox, it's designed to flow much much more air over the standard kit and that would go some way towards you not having to put on a different turbo - the GSR boxes help the turbo spool up more quickly. The downside is the box costs some £160
Whatever course you decide on I'd personally advocate dealing with someone who can set you up on a rolling road. I will be looking at organising something along those lines with a visit to a company down south, but that's on the go-slow at the moment as I've 101 other things to attend to first.
