The dreaded `CANCHECK`

I`ve taken the blaupunkt tape player out of the punto, but when i put it back in the CANCHECK message just stays on, so I can`t put the code in.
Any ideas?

I had a punto before this 1. It came with a tape, which I removed for my Sony CD. But when I put it back in it wont go past CANCHECK. And the cd from the new punto wont work in it either.
