(n) the aa told me i might as well buy and new car than have the head gasket replaced after having a look at my car. Funny that...It was the water pump!!!!20 quid....hmmmmm

Thats some pretty bad advice there mate (n)

I have nothing BUT good to say about the one who rescued us a few years ago, knew exactly what the problem was and we were on our way in under 10 minutes.

Don't you not mean nothing bad to say??!! lol

I think the AA are great, they've rescued me twice and within about 20mins of calling. Also hire cars for you if they dont fix the car at the side of the road ;)

thier ok when you call them out because they want to fix you and go to the next one...but when you go to the garage it's a different story....

I can't fault the AA!

At the end of the day, they are there for assistance and to get you on your way again - some of their fixes are temporary until car can get to a dealership/garage.

I had them out a few months ago when my 4th ignition coil decided to pack up on way to work! They came out with 30 mins, couldn't fix it [mainly because FIAT had no parts in stock, nearest dealership who did was 70 odd miles away]. They then came back next morning with the part, did all warranty forms, and waited whilst I took car for a spin.

In effect, I had two patrolmen out - both were very courteous, and had diagnosed my fault correctly :)

Still, in your case furby, a complaint may be worthwhile - the patrolman should at least be able to justify why they thought it was the headgasket?!

i cant fault the aa, it isnt really the aa mans job to say whats wrong with the car, they just there to try and fix it and get you on your way, well thats what i thought anyway

i called them out several times, the last being in sunny skegness, although they couldnt fix my car, they stayed with me until a low loader cmae and where very friendly and talkative on the 6hr journey back home

I took it to the aa service centre to get a check on it because it kept overheading and losing water...not the guys that come out to you....Its the building that is usually next to a halfords

Ah, I too misread the post!

When you said 'take it to the garage', I thought you meant when the car was towed by AA to a dealership, and then they told you facts that were different to the AA man!

Nope, never used an AA garage either, and have no intentions of doing so :)
