No I aint gone soft yet, but I was really impressed with these guys today at Mallory. How many people would have the guts to race a Fiat Panda and develop a 1242cc Fire engine at the same time! A really friendly couple of guys as well.

As we havent got a Bravo/a Team to support in the UK, how about adopting these nutters as "our team", I am sure they would appreciate a boost, even if not financially.

I have taken a few photos of them in "action" today, I had to be quick as it didnt last too long, but one pic a lap was enough.

Glad to have met you and no problem with the photos or link. Always glad to speak to people who appreciate our efforts.

This was the first race with our new engine and it was pulling quite well especially as I was keeping the revs around 6000 until it was proven. On lap 8 I missed a gear and although the engine didn't over-rev drastically something happened that lost the drive. The engine was still running and revving but no drive except at idle revs. I thought it was the clutch but after stopping and having a look, I tried to restart the engine and although the flywheel went round on the starter motor the other end of the engine wasn't going round. On further deliberation on the way back to London we have come to the conclusion that as one end of the engine was going round and the other not that we have either: Broken the crankshaft or the flywheel bolts have sheared. We favour the later as it is much easier and more importantly cheaper to sort out. Once we've sorted it out details will be posted on the site.

Unfortunately today's efforts were to try to secure 3rd place in Class B for this season but we are now only 2 pts ahead of our nearest rival with three races left. If we can get the car repaired easily (ie. not allowing for a new crank) then we will try desparately to do one more round to try to maintain the position.

Regards

Phil Thompson

Unfortunately having to rebuild the engine myself after the blow up at Brands, my finances are shot. Whilst I would love to say I'll be there I really don't think I will be. I am however aiming to try for Oulton Park in October although that's further away.

See you on Sunday if you're there.

Phil
