OK, I'm getting a lumpy erratic tickover on my 98 Bravo intermittently. Can happen when cold of hot.
Changed air filter (well mank), added a Inj cleaner gave it a blast but its come back again.
Also really smokey when it does this................any clues????
Thanx, Si W

its the joys of a diesels ;)

It's a bit of a shot in the dark but I had the same kinda problem on my 97 TD100. Believe it or not my 2nd injector had actually come loose which was the reason it produced the smoke and tickover was lumpy.

Also if I accelerated slowly the revs would jump a few hundred revs between about 1300-1600. Not good when your stuck in traffic!

Only smokey when the fault occurs..............

No ECU/Fault light either which makes me think more mechanical fault than sensor/switch maybe?

Is the TD100 common rail or old-styleee injector pump? I've never seen one! :)

The problem is probably the high pressure pump that pumps the diesel to the injector, or the petrol has too much water in it, due to a clogged / filthy filter.
If you changed the filter, then get the pump checked.

It has a huuuuuggggeeeee old stylee inj pump driven off main drive belt...........

Reckon sh!te fuel and blocked filter is cause??????????

Sounds right as there is not fault light on dash........and I drive a cobbled up 2.0 16V Nova Saloon and even the slightest fault throws up an ecu light........logical thinking!

If its a mechanical injection pump then a sticking or leaky injector is usually the cause of white smoke.

My guess is its a Bosch system to look up your local bosch diesel specialist in the yellow pages.
