Ok, so when I was coming up from England over the weekend I knew I would make it there and back with 2 tanks of fuel (450 miles down but 490 on the way back), however I was a bit heavy with the right foot on the M1 and my fuel gauge was just under halfway at Huddersfield. So I decided to play it safe and drive the final leg at 60-70mph. My fuel light came on 15 miles earlier than the initial leg at the last M6 services before Carlisle and I thought confidently "I bet I can get home on that". So began the long, tense journey up the M74 on the fuel warning light - 99miles later I pulled into road and expressed a huge sigh of relief.

That's the most premature warning light I've ever heard of.

The car's gonna sit until payday and I'm gonna see how much is left in the tank - I'm betting at least a gallon of diesel is still in there.

Good stuff man, its a bottomless tank you got there.

I hate driving with the warning light on - just bugs me. Surely it cant be an offence to drive with the warning light on, I mean it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer how much is in the tank at that point (and this thread proves this point)

****...I'm ALWAYS driving with my yellow light on!

It will surprise you just how far you can go with that light on! Probably not healthy for the engine, but needs must, especially this late in the month when its 5 weeks between pay days!

Tis payday so I filled it to the brim, it drank 65.35l!!! I still had a gallon in the tank :D

but i cost me £60+ to fill :(
