So i picked up my new 500 last thursday and on the friday when i had a good look around the car i noticed that there where a few light blemishes prob not from being polished properly etc so i took it back to the garage and the girl i bought it off said i was right to bring it back and they would sort it. So 9am on a saturday i took it down. picked it up an hour and a half later and the girl i normally deal with was on a text drive but some other fella dealt with me and informed me that they had applied supagard for free as good will etc which i am not sure to be happy about or not. The car does look alot better than what it did, gleeming away in the sun and to be honest the water does just run off it.

My issue is i now dont know what i am able to was it with? Do i have to use supagard stuff? i have already bought a load of products before the car came and wouldnt want them to go to waste. I know some people say supagard is useless but it was free and even if it does only last a few weeks it hasnt cost me anythin ... unless ofcourse i have to buy different stuff to take care of it

IMHO I would strip it off and keep on top of it yourself, you will get a much better finish and much nicer looking car.

I would be more worried about the marks and how they were removed and how they applied the supaguard. Some dealer techniques leave a lot to be desired!

well its on there now you can remove it but if its been applied ok it will give something like 6-12 months of protection its not as bad as people make out but it seems not to live as long as they make out either

Did they tell you what they applied exactly if they did the interior upholstery i'd be happy as that is actually very good

Did they give you a Certificate?

what stuff have you got for the car already ?

No just exterior and no certificate. I bought a quite cheap turtlewax kit out of halfords, its not expensive but to be honest i cant afford any better.

The marks were like swirls, like a car that has been badly polished, or polished with a dirty cloth.

I dunno what to do, the supagard makes it look like new but when that wares off will it go back to how it was?

I don't think it has any filling properties.

I would take what they say with a pinch of salt to be honest - telling you it had it on will keep you away from them for a few months, long enough for them to wriggle out of any responsibility for any damage.

As with paulyev i don't think superguard has any filling property's (by that meaning that some "polishes" contain a blend of substances that fill the fine scratches reducing light reflection so you cant see the swirls)

as the instructions for superguard say the paint must be polished if required before use i'd say there are no fillers in it

if they have made a reasonable effort at the polishing stage the superguard is the icing on the cake so to speak..

as and when it wears off (a lot of factors can infuluence this ranging from UV exposure, cleaning products used, wind born particulate erosion, acid rain bird droppings, salt air (you get the picture)

you can quiet happily set about your car with what ever cleaning polishing and waxing stuff you have if you use a polish it will remove the super-guard after a couple of applications....

even with a lot of care over time your car will pick up swirls and such damage no matter how careful your wash routine
