What are the parameters that make a sunstrip legal? What is it measured by, some people tell me the distance of which the wipers are too it, the length of it? Just looking for a definite answer to avoid a M.O.T fail, cheers

alright mate, ive heard the same stories my m8 had one and his wiper blades went over it and it passed its MOT

so long as it doesnt encroach onto the area that is wiped by the wipers, it is legal, however if the wiper just clips the edge and goes over, it up to the discretion of the mot inspector.

if the wiper noticeably goes over the sunstrip, its will fail for sure.

yeah whats the deal if you have longer wipers then? just get seom short ones for the MOT?

I got stopped by the police about 10yr ago in a fiat punto for having a sunstrip that the copper said was too low down and could obstruct my vision. i told him that at 5ft 4 it definately didnt obstruct my vision to which he replied but what if someone else drives it. My answer to him "if someone else is driving it then they have pinched it and i dont want them to be able to see" his reply to me " you have 14 days to get it removed have a ticket"

Just depends on the MOT centre, and how much the wipers touch the strip, i took my old one off b4 the MOT test and replaced it with a new one just after, it's a good way to change/freshen up your design ( £20 a year is not that bad!!)

If you have a sunstrip fat enough to block the path of the wipers then its to big, its ment to be practical.
