Got problems with my sunroof. Went to open it and as it tilts down, it stops and wont move. I open it the other way so it tilts up and its fine. But every time I try to open it, it tilts down and stops. I keep pressing the button and I just hear a clicking sound. Does anyone know why this is happening or why its happened? Any help will be great.

If its clicking it will be either the relay or motor. Get a relay from the scrapyard before you opt for the costly motor.

It only clicks when I press the button. It opens perfect when it tilts up but it will tilt down and then just stop as if something is blocking it. If its the motor, then it wouldnt tilt up would it or would this mean that it is the relay for deffinate? I am just trying to find the problem by process of elimination as I dont really like messing with the sunroof because knowing me I will break it and wont be able to get the bugger working again.

Thanks for the help

The relay stops the sunroof in the tilt max position, the norm lush with the roof position and slide back under the roof position. Unless you know you've trapped something behind the sunroof then i would say try the relay. However to check remove the courtesy light, and use the emergency sunroof key to try manually to move the sunroof to the slide position under the roof. If it goes back no problem, get a relay. If not the it wont be the relay.

my guess would be that something is blocking it. maybe a seal has got jammed into one of the runners. Only way to know would be to remove, clean up, and refit. But afaik its a pig of a job to remove the whole lot. Mine jammed shut, and only opens about an inch. So i closed it and that was the end of that. lol. i got aircon anyway, lol.

I didnt really want to mess about with it just in case the worst is to happen.(touch wood). Thanks for the response. Will give it a go and see if I can get it working again. It just stopped opening all of a sudden, for just no reaason at all. Thanks again

Might not be much help, but have a close look at the mechanism from inside and see if you can see anything adrift. Mine had a broken guide so wouldn't close.

Some have a black plastic cover over the mechanism though, so you might not be able to see anything without pulling it off. The Brava I got my spare sunroof parts off did, anyway.
